Biography
Born into an impoverished background in the city of Glasgow, Mia has come a very long way in both her artistic and social life. Influenced by the subtle tones and distinct style of Charles Rennie MacIntosh, Mia’s early efforts with paint were noticed by one of her teachers and this lead to her winning a scholarship to attend a top school. She fell in love with pastel and although she didn’t pursue art at college, it was always a feature of her life. Her creative spirit was not dampened by a career as a social science lecturer and she currently combines this with her growing popularity as an artist.
“Living in Cheltenham, England, is quite different from Glasgow, as you can imagine – but I’m inspired by both.” Mia’s current semi-abstract work has a slight hint of the oriental and is finding favour in galleries across the UK.
